In order to get the project moving, the council approved a corresponding zoning change.
The development will be called Melissa Gateway Village. Designed under the guidance of Salser Development, it will include an open-air gathering space for concerts and events that will be able to accommodate up to 300 people.
Construction is expected to take up to 18 months, with groundbreaking slated for later this year. City officials categorized the news as “an exciting development” that is the culmination of ongoing work in the downtown area that began in the early 2000s.
