SHERMAN - DENISON, TX. - Dallas-Fort Worth home prices hit a record high of $435,000 in May and June and have declined since then as fewer buyers were in the market because of affordability challenges and mortgage rates.
The region saw a 22% decline in home sales in October, the steepest since the pandemic began in 2020, temporarily stalling the market. The median was $400,000 last month, still up 11% from a year before.
Despite the downturn, home prices in D-FW are soaring more than other Texas metros as the region continues to attract employers and see population growth. The region’s home supply is also the tightest in the state, according to Texas Realtors.
To gauge what’s happened in Texas over the last 10 years, the website Texasrealestatesource.com pulled data from the Texas Real Estate Research Center at Texas A&M University to compare home prices in September 2012 to September 2022.
