VAN ALSTYNE, TX - "Van Alstyne celebrated the completion of Industrial Road with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday.
"This used to be 30 acres of just farmland," said the city's economic development director Ronald Williams. "This road will actually not only serve the industrial parkway, it's also eventually going to be a crossroad for the city to alleviate some traffic concerns."
Two years in the making, the new $2.5 million thoroughfare will help connect Collin and Grayson counties. The city says the investment will soon be paying off.
"It's not all falling on the citizens of Van Alsytne," said Van Alstyne Economic Development president David Sileven. "But the companies are coming and bearing that and picking up on that as well."
The city already has two companies on the way to building now that phase two of Cold Springs Industrial Park is complete, including Allan Millworks and Dreamline Windows and Doors.
"Northbound will be tremendous growth, because there's no land in the south," said Dreamline chief operating officer Tu Huynh. "Anna, Melissa, Van Alstyne will be the core... will be major hubs for business."
This is Van Alstyne's second ribbon-cutting for a major project this year after opening up the Industrial Park on April 7.
"It's growing quickly, but it's done in planning and strategically with the right people and the right companies." said Sileven." - KTEN News
